THE TRAVELS OF IZZIE AND AMELIA

My friend Amelia is driving cross-country with Princess Izzie. Amelia and Izzie stopped for lunch at my franchise in Arizona, pictured above. I told her I hoped she had been well-served by the staff, and if not, I would be after them. Amelia assured me:
June, the staff was friendly and efficient. No need to hassle them. Between all the Mimi and June franchises you are one busy woman. :-)
I'm glad to hear it. The employees in all my franchises are well-trained in the art of serving well.

I'm told the little princess, pictured below, did not want to get up and on the road this morning.

Izzie luv, you will never reach your destination, if you lounge around in bed all morning.

  1. Oh, Izzie is so precious. She's just not a "morning dog." This is about how I look before noon.

  2. whiteycat, we had Izzie and her human companion to stay for a couple of nights, and they both won our hearts.

  3. Kewt!

Is Izzie a Maltese? [Body looks sort of like a Shih Tzu, but the nose is more prominent]

100% dog, regardless! (Happy New Year, Izzie!)

And on that note: Happy New Year, Mimi, and everybody here at Wounded Bird!

  4. JCF, I don't know. Perhaps Amelia will pop in and let us know. I think she may be a mix of two breeds.

Happy New Year to you, m'dear.

  5. Happy New Year everyone. Izzie is a Lhasa Apso. Way bigger than the breed standard which is a max of 18 pounds and she is around 25. She is also too long and her hair is too fine. She had just had a haircut before that picture was taken. At nearly 14 she is really beginning to fail. Accidents are beginning to happen regularly. She's very anxious because of her blindness and I'm sure my dragging her around hither and yon doesn't help, but all in all she is a trooper and I love her dearly.

  6. Amelia, Happy New Year to you and Izzie. I'm glad you're safely at your destination.

Thanks for for giving us the scoop on Izzie's heritage. My apologies for suggesting that she was anything but high born and pure-bred. ;-) Whatever...she's a sweetie.

  7. I am the third human in Izzie's life. I got her at a shelter in Wyoming while doing an interim. All of her records were at the vet so I could read her history. BTW, the vet was quite angry that Izzie had been sent to a shelter. She ranted on and on about how a pure bred dog should have been placed in a foster home. I found her the first day she was up for adoption, though. I think she agreed to one home with me and not the other way around.

  8. Amelia, how good that you and Izzie found each other on her first day in the shelter.

  9. I am glad we found each other as well. I do think someone "up there" had a hand in it. I was driving down the road when I got a very strong urge to go to the shelter. I had been planning on getting a dog, for over a year, but hadn't done anything about it. It has been a great 8 years.

  10. Aw. Sweet Izzie. (Lhasa Apso, huh? Doesn't look like what I think of---but I only know the dog-show types)

Hope she rallies, motheramelia, you have her for a few more good years...

    Good girl.

  12. Cathy, you well know I am not a morning person. In truth, I sympathize with Izzie.
