In our diocesan e-letter today our bishop, Morris Thompson, praises Mark Stevenson, who is our canon to the ordinary. He was a runnerup in the Springfield election last summer and suitably conservative for Western Louisiana. Don't know the others. Did anyone really expect a woman?
Since the Diocese of WL is conservative, I did not expect that a woman would be amongst the nominees. Although Canon Mark Stevenson is suitably conservative, as Ormonde said, from all I've heard, he is loyal to the Episcopal Church.
Not-anonymous Canon Bruce, remember, the present Bp. Bruce MacPherson is a Communion Partner bishop, and the diocese endorsed the proposed Anglican Covenant.
I hope the diocese posts the profiles of the candidates soon. I know Mark Stevenson, because he is from my diocese, but I know very little about the others.
Not a woman on the list?
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought. The found seven (!) candidates and only men? Do you think they had some pre-defined boundaries?

ReplyDeleteWith all charity--a rather narrow and limited field of candidates.
ReplyDeleteI'm not anonymous! Bruce (Canon Itchy here)
