EASIER SAID THAN...

Habakkuk 3:17-18
Though the fig tree does not blossom,
and no fruit is on the vines;
though the produce of the olive fails
and the fields yield no food;
though the flock is cut off from the fold
and there is no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will exult in the God of my salvation.
...but still true.

From the Lectionary readings today.

  1. I was realizing how much of this same spirit there is in the letters of Paul.

    Merci.

  2. The passage in Habakkuk calls to mind one of my touchstone passages from Paul:

    Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:4-7)
