RIGHT FOR THE TIMES

  1. The hopeless hungry side of town is getting bigger lately. . .

  2. Johnny Cash is probably always right for the times, whatever the times may be.

  3. Hello Grandmere Mimi--It is just about impossible to post a comment but...I am trying the sound option. So hope it works.

I love Johnny Cash and this is one of my absolute favorites.

Laughing because for me it's usually Bach by day and Mozart by night. Unless it's Johnny Cash.

Ok the sound option didn't work. Back to trying to figure out the fuzzy words.

    OK. Trying fuzzy words again.

    And, trying fuzzy words again.

  4. Bonnie, the fuzzy words are so annoying. Sometimes I have to try 4 or 5 times. Twice is the least I can get by with unless I don't use Preview. I find that each time I edit or add to my comment, I must type more fuzzy words.

Anyway, back to Johnny Cash...I'm so glad you enjoyed him. Back in the 1980s, he played here in my town with June and the rest of the Carter family. What a delight! They gave their all in the performance.

  5. I turned off word verification to see what happens. If numerous spam comments start coming in, I'll have to turn the function back on.

  6. Yes, Gandmere Mimi--Very special that he played in your hometown.

I shall be keeping close company with my Cash collection in a couple of weeks. Great for road trips.

Your posts are always worth noting and it is not lack of interest that keeps me from commenting.

If the fuzzy words look impossible to decipher I will hit post just to get a new set of words. But, this is the first time that option has proved fruitful. Usually I just finally give up.

  7. Hi Grandmere--Just in case you are keeping track. I did have to type in the fuzzy words for my last comment.

  8. Bonnie, I signed out of my Blogger accoutn, and I was able to comment without wv as Anonymous.

  9. Hi Grandmere Mimi--

    Trying again.

The last comment I left was posted without the word verification turned on.

And the word verification is not turned on on this post.

  10. Thanks, Bonnie. Many bloggers are complaining, but no one at Blogger seems to be paying attention.

  11. You are more than welcome.

Back to Johnny Cash. I always hate to think of those end of life issues but at my age one must. I have on occasion wondered if I could get Men In Black worked into my funeral service along with Donne's "Death Be Not Proud." Probably not quite the Episcopal Way.

  12. Bonnie, to request Donne's poem should not be a problem at all. And why not ask that someone play Johnny Cash's 'Man in Black'? Of course, the clergy who presides would have to agree.

  13. Well I probably should quit bragging about our rector--so gifted. I know Donne is one of his favorites. So, that would be OK, I think. But, I have good reason to suspect that Cash would be a no go.

Also many thanks for removing the fuzzy letters and hope that doesn't have any adverse consequences. You have such a gifted community of commenters and commentary, the prayers. I love reading your blog.

  14. Bonnie, often songs that are not considered 'sacred' or 'appropriate' by some are played before the actual service. You might consider that option, if the rector is willing. . .

  15. Now that's a thought, Bonnie.

Here we are prematurely planning Bonnie's funeral and settling the matter of the matter of the horrid, fuzzy word verifications all in the same comment thread, in which the subject of the post is a Johnny Cash video.

  16. We all should plan our funerals ahead of time while we still have our wits about us and to ensure what we want gets included and our families are not over burdened during their time of grief.

We have a form to fill out at St. Mark's. It's like a living will for funerals!

  17. Or should that be "insure?" That other word is a brand name, isn't it? Yes, I am getting old, but do not need Ensure yet.

    ReplyDelete
  18. susan, you're right. Can you send me a copy of St Mark's form?

    Ensure!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Some us who have studied the matter prefer to use ensure to mean what is assured, rather than insure, unless an insurance premium is involved. Just sayin'.

  20. I'm pleased to report that Blogger's spam blocker is working and sending spam comments where they belong, waiting for me to delete them. Further, Blogger is not blocking legitimate comments. So far, so good.
