I've a soft spot in my heart for depictions of the Madonna and Child, and the Madonna of Bruges is one of the loveliest.

Perfect, Cathy. Just as we do here, although we are not in a room. Well, you are in a room, and I am in a room, but we are not in the same room.
ReplyDeleteWe are in the same imaginal room, Mimi :)

The stone unhewn and cold
Becomes a living mould,

Do you know, it's easy to forget Michelangelo wrote poetry. I had a book of his poems round about the place at one point but that may have been many years ago in Australia. I must go and look the poetry up again. Thank you for reminding me, Mimi.
ReplyDeleteI tend to forget, too, that Michelangelo was a poet. I stumbled upon the poem when I was looking for something else, and it fits the sculpture well.
ReplyDeleteIt does, indeed.
