WAXING GIBBOUS MOON

The picture shows the moon as it looked when I walked tonight.
Waxing gibbous moon
The words themselves a poem
Turning full moon soon
A repost which I use from time to time when the gibbous moon shines in the night sky.

  1. Did you see Mars? It will be fairly close to the full moon on March 7 (Mars is in opposition to the Sun on Monday night).

  2. Mars is in opposition to Apollo?
You sure can't trust those warmongers, can you?

Just to brighten your day: It took me several minutes to get this posted. Finally, on disabling pretty much every protection I'm using against malware, tracking, etc., I got logged in to be able to post. But then, you seem to have a posting on Google Evil already; I'll read it now if Google lets me.

  3. Erp, I saw a very bright star, which I believe must have been Mars, in the southwestern sky around 8:30pm, with another fairly bright star not far away. The moon was overhead at that time. Last night was very clear here, and I could see all the stars that light pollution allows to be visible.

Thanks for the info on what to look for the next few nights.

Porlock, I'm sorry you had such difficulty. Each time I get online, I have to sign in to my Google or Blogger account before I can leave a comment. Blogger made changes recently, and I hoped by getting rid of the fuzzy letters word verification, I'd made it easier to post comments, but it seems not so for everyone. I am at Blogger's mercy unless I switch to Wordpress, which I'm reluctant to do, because I am not a technie.

  4. "Gibbous" means what, again?

  5. Convex, JCF. I love the word for some strange reason, and 'waxing gibbous' flows well.

  6. I love the word "gibbous" too and I enjoy it every time you post this poem, Mimi, because the phrase "gibbous moon" is so satisfying. :)

  7. Cathy, 'waxing gibbous moon' flows even better. A friend used the three words in a poem, and I've loved them ever since.

  8. Ah, convex, right. What's concave, in this lingo?

Actually, when I hear the words "convex" or "concave", I think of my beloved Labrador Sasha (OBM). She was (of course) a total sweetie...but she did have a thing for sticking her muzzle (excitedly) into one's crotch. I used to say Sasha's philosophy was "I'm Convex, You're Concave, Let's Boogie!" *LOL*

I'll never forget that dog... <3

  9. JCF, you often have a story with a slightly naughty twist, don't you?
