Muthah, Diana wants to kill cats. She had a fight near to the death of a large, stray tom cat. The cat was so badly injured that Grandpère had to finish him off. Diana was also pretty beat up, but she had no serious injuries. I would not put a cat near her.
She chased and harassed the cat we had when we got her. Our Boy died of kidney failure, but I believe it was from stress from Diana getting after him.
[I've many times told the story of the Russian Blue kitty, "Kitty Friend/Smokey", who adopted our Lab, Sasha. Sasha was confused periodically about it---Sasha was easy to confuse ;-/ ---but came to a snuggly understanding.]
whiteycat, you're right. Because of Rusty, we assumed that while Diana and Boy may not be friends, they would at the least tolerate each other, but we were very wrong.
Introduce Diana to the kitty at the shelter and find one that Diana will be able to trust.

DeleteOur Rusty the Wonder Dog co-existed with 6 cats. (Not all were inside cats.) He ignored the cats, and the cats ignored him.
ReplyDeleteEvery animal is different. My Whitey would NEVER accept another cat. I only had multiple cats after she crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
