nakedpastor says:
There are two ways to prevail.I especially like this drawing and its accompanying words by nakedpastor.
Like the tree, you can go with the adversity. Bend with it. Be flexible in the face of it. Surrender to it.
Or, like the crow, you can lean into it. Streamline yourself against it. Endure it. Stand your ground in spite of it.
Both are wise. Both prevail.
Even against the most severe of prevailing winds.
I do too. But sometimes it can be difficult and painful to stand either way. I pray for those caught in that position for a hand to hold, and an arm to lean on.
ReplyDeleteCiss, what lovely commentary to add to nakedpastor's drawing and words. Thank you.
DeleteAs I came home in similar weather on Wednesday, a very large crow was sitting on the roof of our porch doing just this. I did wonder why it was there, as there are sufficient trees around here which would afford some kind of shelter. To my mind at the moment, I could be nothing but impressed. To take everything the world can throw at you and endure...
ReplyDeleteNeal, I was quite moved by the drawing, too, and I'm pleased that the picture evokes the memory of the stalwart crow on the roof of your porch.

Yes.
A very striking image. And thought.
ReplyDeleteWell! I'd say nakedpastor's drawing is a success at Wounded Bird.
