I love both pictures. I want a cat so much, but Diana hates cats, and I would have to keep the two separated, which is more than I can manage right now.
We lost our 19 yr old cat, Sam early in August (pts as kidney failure :o( However we have just gained 3 kittens, they are such friendly and engaging personalities (3 bros) and am glad to say our 2 yr old collie Alice is coming to accept them as part of the family, so much so that she can now be left alone with them for short periods! Is Diana your doggie?
Yes Allie, Diana is our doggie. When she came to us, we assumed that she would get along with our cat, Boy, but we believe she may have chased him to an early grave. He died of kidney failure, which can be due to stress. Of course, with your 19 year old Sam, the failure was likely from old age.
Our Rusty simply ignored our cats, and we assumed wrongly that was the worst we could expect from Diana.
Oh what a shame! the reason we got kittens is because we were told they would 'grow up with the dog' and thus all would get along better. They are feisty little chaps! very bold and nothing fazes them so that helps. Alice would like to herd at times but otherwise they are often touching noses (1 at a time with her)she is a rescue and we were told she got on with cats which has proved to be true. Sam used to whack her in the face frequently, he sadly didn't love her!
Diana is 16 years old, going deaf, has only one eye and poor vision in the one, so we think she would be less of a threat to a cat, but now is not the time to introduce a new pet into the household.
The (Guilty!) Dog Pic reminds me of "Mitzi and the Cupcakes". Our lab mix, when I was little, found herself a tray of cooling cupcakes on the table (when we discovered missing cupcakes, all that was left were some crumbs and some cupcake lining-paper shreds).
In this day and age, we probably would have worried about chocolate poisoning (in a dog). Ignorance was bliss then, and we just gave Mitzi an appropriate (if futile :-X) tongue-lashing.
After sitting for two cats - that certainly made me laugh since the old Siamese can do that! And THAT dog mess is my little Mac way too often!! LOL!
