Lots of us are relieved--and thankful that maybe there still is a bit of common sense out there! Across the board, progressives showed really well tonight.
Relieved is the word to describe my state. I don't feel triumphalist. I do not think Romney was up to the job of being president in these troubling times.
Obama has a tough row to hoe, and the pray-ers amongst us need to pray for him and for the Congress.
Relief and gratitude that there are still enough reasonable people in the country to make this happen and that they finally woke up and got out to vote in large numbers! nij
Perhaps it might be helpful if we moved away from lamenting that the people of the country are divided and rather spoke of people having different opinions about various issues. Yes, feelings run high after the election, but Obama strikes the right notes when he speaks in hope of people coming together, which he did last night and repeats fairly often.
Watched to the very end. It was a great speech! We do still have a long way to go but I really believe the President can do it.
Sad is that NC is a red state for the first time in 20 years. The lies and the outright damn lies by the Republicans were absolutely disgusting. It's going to be hard to shake that off. They are really scary people.
O Happy Day!
ReplyDeleteI am so relieved.

DeletePaula Poundstone said that she hadn't breathed since the first debate! I identified with that.
DeleteCongratulations, USA.
ReplyDeleteIf it feels a little windy today, fear not; 'tis only the rest of the world breathing a collective sigh of relief!
I am sure all my US friends are relieved. The whole process seems to take absolutely forever and I'm frankly glad it's all over.
ReplyDeleteIt may be premature, but this might be a Triumph of the Reasonable ... could be ... "but I can dream, can't I?"
ReplyDeleteOr, maybe Trump will self-deport :-).
How do you spell relief? O-B-A-M-A!!!

ReplyDeleteYes, Mimi. Let's hope it doesn't fall on too many deaf ears.

The loss of NC is sad, but it's the only swing state that swung red. I'm sorry it was yours, Bonnie.
DeleteMy favorite post-election picture.
ReplyDeleteMine, too, Elizabeth. Michelle and Barack are a lovely couple.
