50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRMINGHAM BOMBING WHICH KILLED FOUR YOUNG GIRLS


Today marks the 50th anniversary of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, which killed four young girls.

  1. Utterly - just like the Taliban who shot Malala in the head, or the Indians who raped and killed the 23-year-old woman, or the teen thugs who shot the Australian guy to death in Oklahoma. Unenlightened humans are cruel and cowardly all over the world. I don't know what the antidote is.

  3. In the case of Addie Mae Collins, the evil evidently didn't stop with the bombing.

    2. I remember the bombing, but I didn't know that either. Horrible.

      (Although exaggerated writing always makes me wish for confirmation from another source: writers who play fast and loose with language are apt to do the same with facts. To wit, if there was nothing but six feet of earth to dig into, then there was nothing at all for gravediggers to "recoil in horror" from.)
