But ultimately, the resolution of this, David, there's not a military resolution to this. There is a political resolution. And the political resolution is to launch missiles that will explode and kill people? Will the president and his top aides continue to argue the case in the pure logic of doublespeak? The people who believe the president is feinting may have a point. The president and his top aides seem to have stopped trying to persuade or make sense.
H/T to Charles Pierce at "The Politics Blog."
Yes, Obama & Co. are now sounding exactly like Bush & Co. - all doubletalk and prevarication. What IS it with the straight boys, when they finally get their fingers on the trigger, yeehaw! They just explode with joy.
ReplyDeleteBTW - I'm not sure I've heard a peep out of Hilary during this whole crisis, one way or the other, have you?
Ah, but ho, ho, ho: look what Kerry's offhand remark about Syrian chemicals has led to in just one day - here's a way out that will disappoint all the White House buckaroos but might save the world:

Unbelievable. I've exceeded my limit of free views at the NYT, but here's another link to the story at The Dish.
DeletePS - how's this for bizarre and mindless:

Okay now we're beyond Bush & Co., and back to Nixon-style insane fantasies. From KERRY of all people, who threw back his war medals in disgust with the Vietnam War!
Power sure does corrupt, and in a hurry, don't it?
Hillary has now spoken up, and she's on board with Syria's giving up its chemical stockpiles: scroll down to find her comments. The WH says behind the scenes that Kerry's remarks were "a major goof" but boy howdy, what a miraculous solution to the impasse - if the Prez has the guts to latch on to it.
