NASA: THREE YEARS OF SUN IN THREE MINUTES

In the three years since it first provided images of the sun in the spring of 2010, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) has had virtually unbroken coverage of the sun's rise toward solar maximum, the peak of solar activity in its regular 11-year cycle. This video shows those three years of the sun at a pace of two images per day.
Amazing and beautiful.  The musical accompaniment is "A Lady's Errand of Love" by Martin Lass.

Thanks to Paul (A.).

WELCOME, BROTHER SUN

When I woke up this morning, the bright light shining through the windows caused me to squint and had me baffled for a spell, but then I remembered the light came from the sun. It's been so long since we've seen sunlight (and shadows, those dark things) that I'd forgotten.  Good to see you again, Brother Sun.
Praised be You my Lord with all Your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun,
Who is the day through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendour,
Of You Most High, he bears the likeness.

(From Canticle of Brother Sun and Sister Moon - St Francis of Assisi)
UPDATE:
We praise You, Lord, for Sister Moon and the stars,
in the heavens you have made them bright, precious and fair.
Tonight was the first night I've seen the moon and stars for quite a while.
