Wagging Her Puppies

From Reuters.

Dolly Parton will cancel her North American tour, because she is suffering from back trouble. I'm sorry to hear that she is hurting. I love Dolly as a singer and as a person. May God bring her healing.

Dolly's comment:

"Hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems," the folksy singer-songwriter said in a statement.

Enough said.

Thanks to KJ in the comments at OCICBW for calling this to my attention.

  1. Loves me the Dolly, Grandmère, I just can't help myself. She makes my laugh and her music can move me. Looks like maybe a bit less Dolly might be indicated in the long run.

If you've not heard them, you can find "Travelin' Through", a song from the movie "Transamerica," and a Brad Paisley duet, "When I Get Where I'm Goin'" on You Tube.

  2. Yes, her puppies should have their ears clipped!

  3. KJ, I hope that you enjoy my selection of "Jolene". It's all Dolly.

  4. I loves me some Dolly, to KJ.

A friend of mine in grad school had a similar problem and had reductive surgery done to avoid a lifetime of backache. (I believe some other friends were wishing they could have her leftovers. We all want to be someone we aren't, I guess, and I'm not immune there.)

Whatever our Dolly does, may she feel better soon!

  5. Years and years ago, I saw Dolly for the first time on the Porter Wagoner TV show. Even though the "puppies" were modestly covered with a blouse AND a vest, I could not believe what I was seeing. This was way before women were rushing to have implants, so I didn't doubt that they were real. They were and are phenomenal, but I truly would not want to change places with her.

  6. I loved her live album, where she sang both Wayfaring Stranger and What a Friend a capella. wow. Also, the wonderful PMS Blues on that one.

    What a lady!

  7. Diane, I had not heard Dolly sing those songs, but I listened to brief portions at Amazon. The album is "Heartsong", and it's still available. It sounds lovely.

  8. I adore Dolly, but "Jolene" just gets my feminist dander up...

Have y'all seen the Crossroads show on Country Music Television? Dolly and Melissa Etheridge teamed up to do one and it was absolutely amazing!

  9. Doxy, Doxy, Doxy, love, is there no pleasing you?

I wish I had seen that show. It sounds wonderful.

  10. Mimi, my attitude is "If he doesn't want me, he can't have me!" ;-)

Kick his worthless behind out the door and let Jolene have him, is what I say...

  11. Doxy, I believe you, and I actually believe I would do the same as you. I tried to tell my son that, but it's quite hard for some to let go.

While you were writing here, I was writing at your place.

  12. One of these days I'm going to write another post on masochism masquerading as love...I can certainly write from experience.

Thanks for your lovely comment, Mimi--and know that you and yours remain in my prayers.

  13. She's 62 years old, for you-know-who's sake, what does she expect?

  14. Lapin, she bore heavy burdens when she was yet young.

    Yes, I'm leaving the stage.

  15. They ARE nice puppies. I don't envy her hauling them around all these years but I do appreciate it.

  16. I thought I posted this earlier, but must have been on a different thread. Oops!

Doxy, you may find Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" more to your liking.

  17. KJ---that one's good. As is Sara Evan's "Cheatin'." ;-)
