Why Won't They Stand Up To Abp. Akinola?

Mike in Texas, at Lavender Wolves, posted an opinion piece by Steven Bates from The Guardian on Davis Mac-Iyalla, a gay Nigerian, who has been granted asylum in the UK and the primate of all Nigeria, Archbishop Peter Akinola. It's worth a read.

  1. Mimi, dear, forgive me; it's been a bad news day and I just finished my second Sapphire Martini.

Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, is an asshole.

  2. I don't know WHY. But that 670 Bishops around the world, in the clear majority, stay silent is so very wrong.

  3. It's always the little people who are left to fight the the good fight. I didn't actually think that good would come out of the all-bishop Lambeth Conference, but I thought that what came out of it might be less bad. Does that make any sense? I think I'm losing it. Lambeth is sending me over the edge. I hope someone is down there to catch me.

  4. God is there to catch you, Mimi.

Lambeth was utterly derailed in 1998.

Paul, that is my hope. They've got Johnieb up there drinking. I believe I'll take a break from posting on Lambeth today. It takes a toll.

  6. Ha! Some of those are priceless. I've just sent them off to an attorney friend.

  7. Hey Mike, I believe you meant to put this comment with the lawyer jokes. The attorneys must be getting accustomed to being beat up on.
