UPDATE: The worst is behind Mimi and her family. They did lose power however and the house that they are staying in did get a lot of water coming in, which they kept cleaning and mopping up.
She does not know when they can return to home - she will keep me posted and I will keep you all posted.
A neighbor at home said their house looks ok, but they are anxious to see how things are inside.
Mimi said that this was as bad as Andrew, which was bad. There are tons of tree limbs down everywhere.
Again - she is deeply grateful for all of the prayers, thoughts and good wishes.
Fran
Hugs to Mimi. She'll need them.
ReplyDeleteI got online at 8 a.m., glued to the coverage from New Orleans. I was relieved by what I saw, then dismayed to see the storm seemed to be making a direct hit on Baton Rouge and New Roads. I have been mightily concerned to hear from Mimi. I hope they have a generator. And I do hope their Thibodaux home weathered the storm. I'm relieved to hear the foolish/brave sons are ok.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, here's the site where I've been monitoring New Orleans news all day. It lets you view 4-5 TV stations online at the same time.
I'm relieved to hear Mimi and all are okay, and like Lisa I'm happy to hear her foolish/brave sons are okay also.
ReplyDeletePrayers are continuing. Hugs too!!
I, too, monitored the storms and was terrified as the storm seemed to make a bee-line for New Roads.
ReplyDeleteOh Grandmere --I am so glad you are safe. Take all the time you need where you are. We just want you and Grandpere safe.
So glad to know your sons weathered the storm too.
You continue in our prayers.
Good thing Mimi was in Louisiana for Andrew, if she thinks it was bad there. I was in Miami, but thank God not in South Miami...
ReplyDeleteWhich, btw, now means I'm "in the cone" for Hannah, and my end of the week will depend very much on how close to the coast of Florida she comes as she goes northward.
However, Jane (and everyone else in North Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas) should be in people's prayers now, as that's how it seems to be headed.
The news reports make it sound as if Houma and its immediate environs received the worst of the storm, so do keep Grandmere's fils in mind as well.
Happy to hear Mimi is ok! Thanks, Fran.
ReplyDeletegrandmere,
ReplyDeleteI, too, was very worried when I saw that the storm was headed toward Baton Rouge. This news is a relief.
Wield those mops, fils de grandmere, and when you're finished, please come to my house.
:)
I'm inclined to remember someone's prayer that Gustav "lose your fury" a while back.
And now we begin prayers for the east coast.
Glad you are all right Mimi!! Prayers for your friends and your home.
ReplyDeleteWhat Margaret said.
ReplyDeleteI've held you in prayer all day, Mimi. Thanks so much, Fran, for keeping us informed. This is such a blessing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fran.
ReplyDeleteThis is now the first blog I read very first thing in the morning. Thank you Fran for keeping us all informed, you're amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm so relieved Grandmere is ok, as is all her family!
As Lauralew says, hugs to Mimi, but also hugs to everyone else in her family and to all those who've been worried sick about her.
Love and continuing prayers.
Dearest Mimi -- and Fabulous Fran the emergency reporting expert -- I listened to coverage while unpacking boxes yesterday afternoon and was thinking of you and your family. I do hope your home will be all right, and I am glad you are! Be good to yourselves, take time, know we are all sending loving prayers, and here's a big ol' Southern hug. (((((((((Mimi)))))))))
