Late Breaking News

Genghis at TPM:

In a surprise move, the McCain campaign has announced that it has fired the public face of the campaign, Senator John McCain. Campaign spokesperson, Nancy Pfotenhauer, announced the decision to dumbstruck reporters at a hastily arranged press conference on Thursday:

"As of this morning, Senator John McCain has been placed on indefinite administrative leave. John and the campaign leadership have agreed that he is not a good fit for the campaign right now. The parting was amicable, and we wish him well in all his future endeavors."

The rest is over there.

  1. "Things were...thrown. There was a lot of weird eye-blinking. It was honestly the first time I saw John handle a computer mouse. He's got quite an arm."

    Love it.

  2. liked the comment on the other feed about the lead not being about Obama pulling ahead but about McCain's downward plummet.

  3. Here we go again. "The White House has asked the Department of Justice to look into whether 200,000 new Ohio voters must reconfirm their registration information before Nov. 4."

This is a blatant attempt by the Republicans to do an end run around the recent 9-0 Supreme Court ruling which threw out their campaign to disenfranchise 200,000 recently registered Ohio voters. Yet more GOP would-be election-fixing.

See Mimi - I can do it

    It's just too damn-much trouble.

  5. Lapin, the more you do the hyperlinks, the easier it gets, and it's so much better on this end. Sometimes, the whole long link doesn't show up in the comments.

The Republicans will do all they can to purge Democratic voters. It's quite frightening. That's why Obama has to win big.

Mike, whatever it takes for them to dig themselves deeper into the hole.

  6. DP, I also like John McCain's words upon hearing that Obama is ahead in the polls. "We have them right where we want them!"

Mind you, I take nothing for granted at this point.

  7. My favorite line?

"We were sold a lemon. Senator McCain promised us a war hero with a sterling reputation. What we got was an angry, unpredictable old man. If we'd wanted that, we'd have hired Mike Gravel."
