In Honor Of Veterans Of All Wars

In honor of and in thanksgiving to all veterans who have done their duty by serving our country in the US military, whether in war, or in relatively peaceful times.

A Prayer for Veterans' Day

O Judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  1. And Europe, the Middle East, India, and Australia are today remembering the 90th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War.
That war is so forgotten in this country that my students have never heard of it. It may be forgotten by Americans, but my American Grandpa was a frontline medical officer in France in 1917 - 1918.
Let us remember our grandpas and great grandpas who experienced the first horrors of the 20th century, mechanized industrialized death on a vast scale, in the trenches of France and Belgium, in the deserts of the Middle East, and on the plains of Eastern Europe.

  2. Counterlight, my father-in-law was a dough-boy. We have his uniform, three helmets, his own, a French helmet, and a German helmet, with a bullet clear through, and a French sword. They also let him take his rifle home.

    Let's remember all of them.

  3. It seems that we all fight the "war to end all wars" and yet it never does. Today, I shed a tear for those who rode with me that fateful night so many years ago. Prayers for all those who have served and remembering those that stayed at home also served.

  5. For Veterans Day, I'd like to mention my father George. PFC, US Army, 7th Inf., 3rd Inf. Div. North Africa, Sicily, Anzio Beach, and the Battle of Rome, plus 18 mo. as a POW in Stalag VIIB.

May he rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon him.
