All right, folks, whatever. Just go vote like your yard sign.

article about the owners of the house pictured above.

That's amazing.
ReplyDeleteI once saw an African-American man walking down the street, wearing overalls with a Confederate flag patch sewn on the sleeve. I so badly wanted to ask him why he would honor the Confederacy, but I wasn't brave enough.
Sick..
ReplyDeleteI hope it all goes the way we hope. I was calm for awhile but now I'm a nervous wreck again. So much could go wrong...fingers are crossed.
I don't understand it, but if McCain looks like the wrong choice to those folks, the message may be getting through. Maybe they're voting in their own self-interest.
ReplyDeleteI've been a wreck for weeks. I hope they and a lot of other people vote right.
At least the American flag is on top.
...my head hurts.
ReplyDeleteI doubt very many drowning people care much about the color, gender, or whatever of whoever throws them a lifesaver.
ReplyDeleteCounterlight, apparently not a few would rather drown than have "socialism". I've explained until I'm hoarse that Obama is no socialist, but is rather the most centrist of centrists, but to no avail.
ReplyDeleteIf Obama is a socialist, how come I never see him at the meetings?
ReplyDeletePadre, I don't know how to break this to you, but Obama would not have wanted to be seen with you under any circumstances. He'd have been doomed by such an association. I can just see the press swarm. It would have been worse than the uproar over the Rev. Wright or William Ayers.
ReplyDeleteMimi, here's a link to a story in the local paper. http://www.reporter-times.com/stories/2008/10/30/news.nw-384922.sto According to the reprter, the wife is a life-long republican who can't stomach what the party offers this year and is working for Obama. Husband is an apolitical atheist who has a pirate sign in the back yard and doesn't vote because he doesn't think it matters. As the article says, the couple doesn't talk politics or religion. Heterosexuals never cease to amaze me, but back to the election -- the wife in this household is a sign of hope to me. There are many blue-collar life-long republicans here in Indiana who not only wonder just how stupid their party thinks they are (and how morally bankrupt it has become), but who are truly waking up and warming to the message of hope and unity and cooperation that Obama offers.
ReplyDeleteMimi,
ReplyDeleteI think Obama could get away with it so long as Padre didin say nuthin. Ever.
Right after I got to Connecticut, one of the church members was telling me how to get to his place. It was way back on a country road--a farm that had been in his family since the Revolution. Emerson (his given name) was a true "Swamp Yankee", as they are called here, so it was with a sly grin that he told me
"Ya can't miss it; there's a Confederate flag on a pole out front."
Johnieb, I don't get it. I suppose SOME of the folks, who proudly display the Confederate flag, don't realize that it can be offensive. And I can't stand the historians who try to clean up the Civil War. There was a real right and wrong side in the war.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason the link goes to a log on page! I have no idea how to actually look for the story after I long in. Of course I am not logging in.
ReplyDeleteSusan the newspaper changed the web address for the article. I posted the new link, which I believe will take you directly there - for now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mimi. I got it now!
