I've a regular visitor from San Clemente, California. You don't suppose.... No, it couldn't be. Not the ghost of Richard M. Nixon come to haunt me as George W. Bush gets close (not close enough!) to the end of his term.

I notice that Nixon's face is BLACK. Is Mr. Ravenwood trying to tell you something?
ReplyDeleteAnd his name is RAVENwood. Chock full of symbolism.

It's not black; it's the ghostgray pallor of death plus the traditional depiction of Nixon's heavy five O'clock shadow. With such observations, I can understand why you prefer not to claim them.
ReplyDeleteMimi, I just finished Elizabeth Drew's (Great New Yorker reporter for many decades) Journals of 1973-1974.
I think this would have been more appropriate for Halloween.
Johnieb, I had nothing. I saw in my counter that I had a regular visitor from San Clemente and the RMN ghost idea popped into my head. Lo! I found the ghost picture, and it was go.
ReplyDeleteI well remember Elizabeth Drew's reporting in the New Yorker during that period. It was impressive.
I hope yer Nonie troll was that; I'd hate to insult somebody and have to take it back, but I know yer too polite to call 'em one without solid evidence.
ReplyDeleteI just went with the first indicator. :-)
Johnieb, I like to give them a chance or two. If they don't measure up, then zap!
