Obama On Gen. Shinseki: "He Was Right!"

Obama's appointment of General Eric Shinseki to head the Department of Veterans Affairs is great news. He was one of the few in the high ranks of the military who were courageous enough to stand up to Rumsfeld and Bush publicly and say that 300,000 or more troops would be needed to invade Iraq. For his honesty and courage, Rummy pushed him out. I was outraged at the time. I can't think of anyone better suited for the job of serving our veterans. There's a sweet justice at play here with Obama's appointment of Shinseki, indicating a complete break with the Bush maladministration in the government's care and treatment of veterans.

  1. I don't believe any of the lies that the FBI is spouting about Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich selling Barack Obama's old Senate seat to a Republican for a hefthy chunk of change. This type of Simony is a Mortal Sin that no one in their right mind would commit. Surely Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich would never sacrifice his Immortal Democrat Soul for 30 pieces of Silver. What is the World coming to?

  2. Llort, I see that Blagovich was arrested on corruption charges, and that Patrick Fitzgerald on his case. That can't be good. I don't know anything about what you say. Are you trying to tell us something?

I gather that you don't like Democrats. Are you a great fan of Bush?

  3. I don't necessarily dislike Democrats. Many a good person has been a Democrat. I am fond of Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller. I am, in fact a Moderate Democrat myself.

I am dissapointed that that many of our best Democrats were ran out of the party by the faction that Blagovich represents. That's why I'm a Moderate.

A Democrat Governor that would sell a Senate seat to the highest bidder, even if it were to a Republican, is worse than a Republican, wouldn't you say?

Tainted is just a mild adjective for it. I'm not going to use the profanity that this situation deserves.

Let's just say that I'm bitter about it.

  4. Llort, I am no blind idealogue. William Jefferson, (D-New Orleans), indicted for corruption, lost the his seat in the US House to Republican Anh "Joseph" Cao, and I am glad. Jefferson is a crook (I know - innocent until proven guilty), and he needed to go, but he did not have the grace to resign upon being indicted. Cao will make history as the first Vietnamese-American elected to the House. I wish him well, and I pray he will serve the citizens of Louisiana and the country well.

You're off topic, you know. I am delighted that Obama chose Shinseki. That's what the post is about. It's also about stick it to Bush. I'm sorry you're bitter, but let's get back to the topic, shall we?

  5. There was no other place to post it. I took my best shot.

Blago & Jefferson would have been given a sleigh rides through the cactus in Texas. I'm sure that the same pair would have been giver water ski rides through the gators in Louisiana.

    'Nuff said.

PS: I did vote for Hillary
