Vitter Gets A Smackdown

See Vitter speak nonsense. No. 1 and No. 2 are both false statements. I take his efforts to cut ACORN out of the funding personally, because the First Draft Krewe, of which I was a member, worked on gutting a house in Gentilly in New Orleans under the auspices of ACORN. What's wrong with Vitter? 3,500 homes in New Orleans rehabilitated by ACORN and their volunteers, and he wants them squeezed out!

UPDATE: The amendment was voted down. Thanks to Susan S. for asking. I meant to note that in the original post.

Lest you doubt my words, the picture is below. There we are, all fresh and clean, before we went to work.

Thanks to Athenae at First Draft for the picture and the tip on the video.

  7. Brian R:

As a life-long student of Louisiana politics, especially that of our congressional delegates, I am certain that Mr. Vitter's motivation in this instance is RACISM pure and simple. (Acorn works primarily among minority populations.) Add to that a dash of demagoguery, and you have the essence of this 'man.'

Totally desperate from the revelations of his cavorting through the capitol cathouses, Vitter is relegated to playing to his remaining base. You know, that base which disingenuously labels Clinton's White House sexcapades as impeachable offenses, but those of their own as "indiscretions."

  8. Crapaud, thank you for parsing teh Vitter for our friends from other countries. I get so bored when I talk about him that I sometimes fall asleep while I'm talking or typing. I wish that I never had to look at him or hear him again, major family-values hypocrite that he is. I hear that he's quite unpopular in the Senate, even amongst members of his own Republican Party.

  10. I seldom find myself in complete agreement with my senator, but he hit this one out of the park. After his recent effort to get our currently jailed ex-govenor (as opposed to our soon-to-be-jailed ex ;-) ) a reduced sentence, it is refreshing to see him doing something right.

    FWIW

  11. Tobias, he's up for reelection in 2010.

Jim, I'm no great admirer of Durbin, either, but he surely did the right thing this time. Smack!

  12. Maybe the occupants of the houses ACORN has been renovating aren't light-skinned enough for the lily-white Mr Vitter?
