Why Boys Need Parents

This is for those mothers of boys, sisters of boys, and boys that have grown older...
And anyone else who needs a laugh.

If you don't send this to a few old friends, there will be fewer people laughing in the world....

Thanks to Erika.

  1. More evidence that the last sound heard on earth will be women laughing.

  2. Counterlight, I had two sisters and no brothers. Having boys was true culture shock for me. I prayed that nothing would happen to Grandpère, and I'd have to raise them alone. I'm not kidding.

My boys did make me laugh when they didn't scare the hell out of me with their crazy antics. I had two close in age, and they'd gang up on me. They had a secret signal between them, and they'd both go wild at the same time.

  3. The boy with the skateboard at the pier. That's the one that hit home, because I could just hear his thoughts - "I'll get up enough speed to easily jump that gate, and then..."

Of course, I also heard the sound of mothers everywhere gasping. Then running...

  4. Of course, that wasn't the only reason that I didn't want anything to happen to Grandpère. I loved him.

  5. Ah, all of those pictures were preceded by words that I heard - and often spoke - well into my late teens: "Hey, I got an idea that could work!"

Of course, the last picture was followed, for me, by the words, "Yeah, I didn't think so."

  6. . . . or, as one of my four brothers has been known to say, "The most common last words for men are,'Hey, guys, look at this!'"
