Look, I'm a talk show host, I am totally for talk show hosts almost getting away with almost anything they say, on the radio particularly. But I'm amazed at how much Fox lets Glenn Beck get away with. I think he is a ticking time bomb, and one day he's going to explode in the face of Roger Ailes, and they're going to be sorry they gave him that television show.

Isn't there a broadcasting standards authority with a robust complaints process and if not why not?

ReplyDeleteDP, of course you're right, but the point is that Bill Press already gets away with saying whatever he likes, and even he thinks Beck goes too far.
ReplyDeleteLindy, you and me. I never watch Fox News, and when I heard folks mention Beck's name, I took a look and thought to myself, "He's crazy, or he acts crazy. You'd have to be nuts to watch him." That's true, but still, people watch.
