Grandad was reminiscing about the good old days...
"When I were a lad, Momma would send me down to t'corner store wi' a dollar, and I'd come back wi' five pounds o' potatoes, two loaves o' bread, three pints o' milk, a pound o' cheese, a packet o' tea, an' 'alf a dozen eggs. Yer can't do that now.
Too many security cameras."
Thanks to Doug.

ReplyDeleteSo this guy's a Yorkshire American?
ReplyDeleteDP, who said anything about an American? You should read more carefully, luv - even the jokes.
ReplyDeleteBut you said "dollar". I know, I've got it. That must be how those Canadian folk talk!
ReplyDeleteDP, there is the dollar and the "momma", which point to the US. Some of the folks deep in the isolated hill country of Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia speak in a dialect that is not much evolved from its roots somewhere in England, perhaps Yorkshire. My deepest apologies.
