OH NO!

Ummm, maybe not yet. How about sometime in February? I hope my house guest, Amelia, will not be shocked to see my Christmas decorations still in place. I mean they're not hurting anyone, except perhaps W. H. is turning over in his grave.

Well, so that is that. Now we must dismantle the tree,
Putting the decorations back into their cardboard boxes --
Some have got broken -- and carrying them up to the attic.

Shamelessly stolen from Rmj at Adventus.

  1. There is always Chinese New Year, February 14, to look forward to.

  2. A few folks around here leave the tree up and decorate it for Mardi Gras, and then move on to Easter decorations. I am not kidding.

  3. Christmastide ends with Candlemas - February 2nd - but I like the idea of decorating the tree for Mardi Gras. Very cool

  5. The Christmas lights are still up all over my neighborhood, including the lights and the creches at both St. Cecilia's and St. Stanley's.
I trust they will be down by Ash Wednesday.

  6. Thanks for the kind words of support. You've helped me to be rid of a load of guilt.

  7. I have a friend who leaves the tree up all year and changes the lights from Christmas, to heart shaped lights, to shamrock shaped ones - and so on! So I say, enjoy it!

  8. The very first year in our own place, Paul (A) had to tell me that "The Easter Bunny doesn't visit houses that still have Christmas trees up."

    The Bunny won.

This year, I announced to my son as I carried the boxed creche to the attic, "Urban renewal time in Bethlehem. The stable's been removed."

p.s. Word verification: "craciest" No. I think not. Paul has me beat on that.

  9. Soon and very soon, the tree will go upstairs into the closet. I don't even undecorate it. It's a wee tree, and I cover it with a large plastic bag with the ornaments and lights still on the tree.

Next the creche gets wrapped in placed in the box in the attic. My creche was minimalist this year, the nuclear Holy Family, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

Catherine, you are the craciest. I already knew that, but WV confirms my opinion.
