GOOD-BYE MAX
Please pray for my daughter's family. Their cocker spaniel, Max, was put down this afternoon. He suddenly became very ill, and the vet found three large masses around his heart. She said that the masses were very likely malignant, and that Max was in great distress. She advised my daughter to give him an easy passing. Max was 11 years old and was the family's first pet larger than fish or hamsters.
I don't have a really good picture of Max. This is the best I can do. My daughter was extremely distressed, and I can only imagine how grief-stricken the three boys were when they heard the news.
Run into the wind, Max. You run free now. No aches, no pains.
We will miss you.

Oh. I am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Max, for all the love you gave and received.
So sorry to hear about Max - I dread thinking about Zoe also heading into eternity. They are such an integral part of out lives.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for all who loved Max and received Max's love. Furry friends model unconditional love so well that when they go, it really is a big hole. Prayers for you and your daughter's family.
ReplyDeletePrayer for Max, for the family, and for you. Nothing hits the vulnerable spots harder than losing a pet, and the responsibility of making The Big Call can feel overwhelming. They surely did right by him, and I'm confident that he loved every minute he spent with his family.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry they lost their furry friend! My prayers are with their family.
ReplyDeleteO God, you created all that is, and you love all that you have made: we come to you this day in grief and with thanksgiving. We grieve the death of beloved Max, who has been our companion on the way, and we thank you for the gift of his presence among us as an effective sign of the richness of your creation and of the generosity of your love.
ReplyDeleteAnd a golden tail!
ReplyDeletePrayers for who love Max and have been loved by him.
They are definitely in my prayers!

ReplyDeletePrayers, my first pet was a black cocker spaniel, Laddie. He looked very much like Max. The family purchased him when I was about 3 and when I was about 14 he was bitten by a tick causing paralysis. There are better treatments and more importantly preventative measures today. Unfortunately both Mum and Dad had to go to work and I had to go to school leaving Laddie alone. I found him dead when I came home first. I do feel for the boys especially.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the prayers.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I love the prayer. It's a keeper.
Prayers for Max's family. We found wonderful place this summer http://www.dogmt.com/chapel.php.
ReplyDeleteThe chapel has notes written to deceased pets covering the walls of the entry way into the church. If you email or send a note they will put it on the wall. That maybe helpful to those that love Max. I left a note for my dog, Spot, who was with me from kindergarten until I was 18.
Aw, when I saw (at Friends of Jake) the link to post called "Goodbye Max", I was very much afraid of something like this. :-(
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Golden Tail, Max.
Hugs, Kisses and various sorts of Treats to your Human Pack.

Malcolm's video is here.
ReplyDeleteTwo Auntees website is here.
Thank you both. I made the links easier.
So sorry Mimi - for your family and for Max .
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about Max, he sounds like a great dog. It is always tough to lose a sweet old member of the family such as he.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter and her three little boys will be in my prayers.
Many prayers for all.
ReplyDeleteI edited the prayer from the Diocese of New Hampshire resource site. They have a complete burial service for animal companions
ReplyDeleteSo much heartache....sigh.
ReplyDeletePrayers for all, Mimi. You too.
Love,
Doxy
Alas for Max, and prayers for all. So sad.
ReplyDeleteCelebrations for Max's golden tail. Prayers for all who knew and loved Max.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn
More prayers for Max and his extended family. May they remember Max as the lively, loving companion that he was.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much to Mimi, the 2 Aunties, Malcolm, & Ann for the pet links.
Thank you all for the prayers. Yes, we should celebrate Max's golden tail, but we're not there yet. A fitting start for Lent, no?
ReplyDeleteMolly the WonderDog is my first dog ever. With all her health ups and downs, one would think that I would find myself prepared for her eventual death. I don't think you can do that. I an't anyway. All you can do, is what I will do, cry and long for them to come to life and be with you again. And find some comfort in the idea that THEY never worried about death and that they are just fine now.
ReplyDeleteMax is probably just swell -- prayers for those who love him.
Prayers ascending for all that loved Max!
