BOBBY JINDAL, THE HYPOCRITE?

The picture above is Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal at the press conference yesterday on the oil spill off the Louisiana coast. You can't see them in the photo, but Jindal is surrounded by the folks in picture below, Dept. of the Interior Secretary Dan Salazar, Dept. of Homeland Security Sec. Janet Napolitano, and Lisa Jackson, EPA Administrator.

Bobby Jindal fulminates against the over-sized federal government; he decries taxes to pay for the functions of the bloated federal government, but when he is in trouble, he's quick to call for help from that same federal government, admitting that some problems like Katrina and the federal flood and the oil spill are too big for a state to handle on its own. I know Jindal was not governor when Katrina struck, but he's asked for ongoing help with recovery. In my eyes, Bobby Jindal looks like a hypocrite. How will he run on shrinking the federal government, when he's had to call for help from that same federal government on many different occasions?

  1. All of the anti-gummint Republicans are just like Mr. Jindal, and some astonishingly worse. My politicos in Georgia rail incessantly about the recent stimulus plan that stoked state coffers with billions of dollars and then have the audacity to appear at photo-ops as the money is spent in deep-red, tea party suburbs. Let all of the South go broke, President Obama; it's just what we've demanded of you socialists.

  2. Crapaud, merci.

John D, exactly. Birds of a feather.... I'm furious at Jindal right at this moment. However, his hypocrisy will cause few raised eyebrows, because most of his supporters are kindred souls.

  3. Why am I getting flashbacks to Texas' own beloved former governor "Pass the Biscuits" Pappy O'Daniel?

He said that the New Deal was godless communism, but was happy to get that New Deal money.

That's why you get flashbacks, Counterlight.

  5. I thought the Bushies like Bobby were just FINE with the gummint SPENDING money, it's only the collecting of taxes they're against. That's why they are opposed to contraception and abortion. They need lots of grand-kids to pay their bills off.

Were it not for you, dear Grandmère Mimi, I'd think we made a huge mistake in the Civil War... by not letting the south GO!

  6. Wade, if you'd let us go, you'd have lost quite a few good people besides me.
