Alpha Dog of the Week - George Rekers | ||||
|
Since mine is a family-oriented blog, I hesitated to post Stephen Colbert's segment from last night on the Rev. George Rekers and the boy he rented to carry his luggage. However, Stephen's was at the top of of my list for the best commentary on the affair. (No pun intended, but I must add that avoiding puns on the subject is like walking through a minefield.)
Enjoy if you have not seen the video already.
The Louisiana Family Forum carries great political weight here in Louisiana. According to their website:
Louisiana Family Forum maintains a close working relationship with Focus on the Family and Family Research Council.
According to the website of the Family Research Council, the organization's motto is:
"DEFENDING FAITH, FAMILY AND FREEDOM"
Just watched this whole program. He is absolutely spot on, as usual.
ReplyDeleteThe hypocrisy is staggering.
ReplyDeleteCertainly gives new meaning to "carrying his luggage". The FoF people are saying Reker spent the whole time witnessing to the man.
ReplyDeleteOh, Colbert! You are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen this; thanks for posting.
I used to work for a man who said beware of anyone who is threatened by anyone else’s sexuality. He felt it was a sure sign that is was their own sexuality they were struggling with. That seems to be the case more times than not with the "family values" groups of late.
ReplyDeleteI read another funny comment on the affair at GAFCON:
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows rentboy.com provides luggage handlers. The same as pussygalore.com is a petshop!
There is also a report of an exchange of emails here that is somewhat enlightening.
ReplyDeletewv = mation
(what you see walking behind a rentboy)
Paul (A.), I'm lost. Are the emails real? Well, I know they're real, but are the emails the actual exchanges between Reker and "Lucien"?
ReplyDeleteAnn, I am fascinated by this. I never heard it called, "witnessing" before. But then as prostitution is generally a criminal act, maybe he has something there!
ReplyDeleteFWIW

I suspect that those emails are every bit as genuine as the U.S. Supreme Court decisions in City of Charleston v. The Kanawha Players (which I never linked to, in case anyone asks).
ReplyDeletePaul (A.), thanks. I remember the case now. Very interesting reading.
