WEATHER FORECAST FOR NEXT WEEK

Here it's cold (for us) and dreary, with occasional mist.

Don't blame me. Blame Doug.

  1. Last night, my aunt on the phone with me. She lives just north of the space between A and D in LOAD on that map...

"We're just buried in snow up here. What's it like down there?"
"You don't want me to tell you now."
"It was in the mid-eighties, wasn't it? My brother told me."

And indeed it was. I didn't go to the pool because 1)I had a bunch of other things to do 2)it's not humid, so it felt like a cool 84 degrees, and not a real get-to-the-pool now 84 degrees and 3)it's February. Only tourists go swimming in February.

So I just took out the short sleeve shirts I just bought to wear in a couple of months, and started wearing them.

Today it's not quite so warm--maybe about 80/81 degrees. Weather won't really cool down for a few more days yet.

Beats December with all those freezing cold days we had.

It's not too late. You can still move to Florida. We have everything Louisiana has--Republican chokehold on the state government, hurricanes--except the cajun cooking--and we've got all that South American cooking to replace it.

Oh, and I guess we don't have your grandkids. But I'm sure they'll be glad to come down in February to visit you and use the pool (hopefully in that order of importance).

    :)

  2. Oh, wait, I forgot, we have Jamaican cooking, which is simply cajun cooking done to a reggae beat.

  3. I'm very tired of the shitload we have in New York. I dream of a day when I can wear normal shoes again instead of my Minnesota tennis shoes (snow boots).
That probably won't be until mid March at the earliest.

  4. Kishnevi, with the grandchildren, I fear the pool, rather than moi, would be the major attraction.

New Orleans cooking is rather heavily influenced by West Indies style cooking and Spanish cooking from Spain and by way of Central and South America.

Counterlight, Minnesota tennis shoes may be the new normal for several months of the year in NYC. Remember, it's no longer global warming. It's climate change. Good grief! We've had a real winter here in south Louisiana.

  5. The weather does seem to have been particularly awful across the US the past couple of weeks.

Here in London it's just cold and dreary too.

    Come on spring.

  6. About spring, I hate to quote George bush, but, "Bring it on!"

  7. Those of you who are not too young, can't you picture George Carlin in front of the screen as Al Sleet, the hippy dippy weatherman?
