Read Padre Mickey's post on the rapture that didn't happen. What he writes is wise and compassionate. Besides, he posted the beautiful icon below.
Padre Mickey is not only fun and games and music, you know. He's a good priest and a good pastor. Read what he has to say.
Padre Mickey's post was excellent and should be required reading for all media "covering" stories like this. Most reporters don't seem to know that rapture theology is recent and in no way a core Christian belief. I wouldn't blame people of other faiths for thinking all Christians believe this stuff.
ReplyDeleteBex, I see why non-Christians who see us all painted with the same brush, think we are all crazy. The media of today generally do not go deep in their research before they write.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the folks who were taken in. I expect that Harold Camping may have been sincere because he risked much with his certainty about his prophecy. I hope that all those who believed the rapture would happen learn something good from the experience, about themselves and about God.
Well said and I appreciated his caring as well. Coming from his background that can be hard sometimes I know people from similar backgrounds that are still frustrated after 40 years of dealing with the same type of history as he is.
ReplyDeleteCiss, I was quite moved by Padre Mickey's words. It's a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteI wish he had posted it at FoJ where he is a CONTRIBUTING MEMBER! (hint hint)
ReplyDeleteOh he did. Guilt works, sez the ex-Roman Catholic
