Above is our Diana in one of her favorite spots doing what is now one of her favorite things. See how she moves the tray under the drainpipe out of the way so she can get comfy? She's not only half blind, but she is deaf, too, so I didn't disturb her at all when I took her picture. She hears some but not much.
Good girl Diana. Good girl.
ReplyDeleteAwwww! What a sweet girl. [Sometimes even the Mightiest Huntress, huh Diana, needs a lil' snooze? ;-)]
ReplyDeletemargaret, Diana is a good dog. She sleeps most of the time now, so if you prefer a dog that plays a lot, then you'll be disappointed. She once was quite lively, and she still has her moments.
ReplyDeleteWhen we named Diana, Grandpère hoped she would be a huntress, but it was not to be. When he took her into the woods, as soon as the lead was removed, she'd be back at his truck in no time. After that happened several times, he gave up.

Now Diana is in the house, snoozing away on her L. L. Bean bed, which she adores. It's the first dog bed she hasn't chewed to pieces. It's several years old now, and we now have two, just in case.
ReplyDeleteI bet it's nice and warm there on those bricks, Diana. I wish my human would provide me with such a nice place to nap, instead of the wood deck or the bare yard. If I can escape, I shall come and lie in the sun on the bricks with you.
ReplyDeleteYours sincerely,
Xena, Labrador Mix Warrior Princess of all Norwalk.
My Bailey is that way also. Mostly blind and pretty deaf but he eats and sleeps and last night he let me hold him for about 15 minutes. As long as he is not suffering I will love him and when it is time I will have to do what I have to do. Hopefully God will grant that he will just go to sleep and not wake up sone day. Blessings on you and your girl.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet old girl. I love the notion of a pacifist dog. She landed in dog heaven when she came to live with you and Grandpère
ReplyDeleteSweet doggie! Diana is a gem of a dog.
ReplyDeleteLois, it's actually cool and shady on the bricks by the gate. We're still having weather in the high 80s.
ReplyDeleteJay, Diana eats well most of the time. She's a little stiff when she first gets up, but after that, she moves well and runs like a young dog when she wants to. She and Grandpère play a rather rough game with her chasing and pulling on an old towel, and she seems quite agile, but she tires quickly. I worry a bit about her sleeping so much, but it's what she wants to do.
BooCat, I like the idea of a pacifist dog, too. Our previous mutt, Rusty, the wonder dog, was a mighty hunter. He even retrieved birds that belonged to other hunters. He was a natural at rabbit hunting, too, and needed no training.
ReplyDeleteI don't hunt, but all the men in my family do, and there's nothing I can do about it. I eat all their game, and I feel better about eating game than meat in plastic from the market, because the game birds and animals were free until they died.
whiteycat, Diana has her moments, but she is mostly a sweet dog.
