Most Episcopal churches I have gone to use Stuttgart, probably because that's the tune in the Hymnal (and in the 1940 Hymnal too).
I hadn't heard the tune in the video before, but I think I like it better.
Of course, you can never go wrong with Hyfrydol, which is not only beautiful but within almost everyone's range (the melody goes from do to la, less than a full octave)
Correction: I'm now sure we sing the Stuttgart version in my church, because it's in the Hymnal. My familiarity with the tune in the video led me to believe that we sang the choir's version of the hymn.
This is a different tune than one I know.
ReplyDeleteCyberhymnal has all the tunes - we usually use Stuttgart.
ReplyDeleteIn my church, we always sing the hymn with the tune in the video.
ReplyDeleteI love 'em both.

amyj, I'm not familiar with the tune at Ann's link.
