IS IT TOO EARLY FOR A 'FA LA LA'?

The Carlson School of Management received a surprise visit from a saxophonist...and nearly 300 of his friends from the University of Minnesota's School of Music this November.
Since two people sent me the link to the flash mob video, I decided I could post the Christmas song. Thank you, Doug and Paul (A.).

  1. No, not too soon for me! This is just lovely. I think these flash mobs are inspired blasts of joy in a very dark world right now.

I can’t help but think of these beautiful young people and how they add so much with their music and I contrast that with the state of higher education here where I live. Governor Rick Scott, in Florida, recently moved to defund any kind of public support or assistance and funding to non-business majors in college, claiming that students need to choose majors that will make them important in the “new” economy. He went so far as to ask if it made sense to have colleges of the liberal arts and art and music and history since they don’t seem to be money-making for the state.

Good on the University of Minnesota for showing us that business and music can do great things together and both are needed to make a well-rounded future!

  2. What a sad policy for higher education. What kind of world would it be without music, art, literature, and history?

Besides, a good many of the business majors find that there are not enough jobs out there for them.

  4. Take the video, Ciss. I love the flash mob videos. Most I've seen are quite well done.
