Lionel Deimel reports at the No Anglican Covenant blog:
Unsurprisingly, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s own diocese has voted in favor of the Covenant and issued a press release to that effect. According to the diocese, the vote was as follows: bishops—1 for; clergy—26 for, 11 against; laity—26 for, 14 against. There were no abstentions.Well, if we can't win 'em all, two out of three ain't bad.
I understand there was no debate, or even opposing conversation, regarding the Anglican Covenant at Canterbury Synod...how like the Archbishop to ramrod his ¨will¨ be done without question (prove me wrong but I think he thinks ¨first amongst¨ equals sneaky old ¨pope¨).
ReplyDeleteReally? The priests and laity who voted against the covenant were courageous, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThey only have to put up with the disheveled buffoon a few more Months. They'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteWade, perhaps, but who will replace Rowan?

ReplyDeleteYep! Brave! (makes me wonder if all the sudden opposition from various Church of England dioceses is with the ABC´s upcoming ¨adios¨ in mind?
It´s human nature, certainly it is around here, that people start speaking up when the threat/intimidation dimishes-- there will be a NEW occupant of the Old Bishops House and Lambeth Palace soon)!
Grandmère Mimi, I'm hoping it will be somebody with the intellectual honesty to be on one side or the other rather than both.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I guess I'm not too hopeful that whoever is appointed as the next ABC will be an improvement.
