THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - WENDELL BERRY

Well, anyhow, I am
not going to die young
From Given - by Wendell Berry.

Since I turned 70 in the latter part of the year before the book was published, the short poem is one of my favorites by Berry, who is high on my list of favorites of writers of contemporary poetry.

  2. Tim, I have read only Berry's poetry. I'll look into his prose.

Ann, I like the poem, too. It still works today.

  3. Thank you for the nice birthday present. The day that proved I won't die young was extremely recent, and I didn't know this bon mot. But lots of people I know will soon know it. ("I wish I'd said that." "You will, Porlock, you will.")

  4. BTW, what's the icon-registering scheme for your blog? I really ought to establish the portrait that I use elsewhere in blogistan.

  5. 'Nathan Coulter' is the place to start, Mimi - I'm pretty sure it's the first of his Port William novels. I am absolutely sure that you will love them.

Tim, thanks for the tip. I'll add the book to my Amazon wish list.
