Did You Die For Me?June Butler - 3-20-08
Did you die for me,
Jesus, did you?
Did God raise you for me?
Why? Why for me?
What good am I?
What use to you?
You say because you love me.
Why do you love me?
Because you are love, you say.
I must love my brother.
I must love my sister.
As you love me,
So must I love.
Spirit of God,
Dove of love,
Fill my heart to overflowing.

That sums it all up very nicely, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteWho wrote this little jewel of a poem?
Never mind, I just saw the tag: it was you.
ReplyDeleteA lovely thing, thanks for sharing this with us.
Russ, many thanks. I wrote the poem, but I post my poems in fear and trembling, not knowing if they are worth a damn. I didn't sign my name, but I suppose I should.
ReplyDeleteOh this is excellent; I wish I had written it. As the angels always say, "Fear not."
ReplyDeleteThanks, Russ. As the angels say....
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely little poem. Be courageous. :-)
ReplyDeletePJ, thank you. Coming from you, the words are a great compliment. You know what it's like to put your stuff out there - you - a published writer.
