Phil, thanks. I was once very active in my local community, but I burned out. I did manage to improve the drainage in my neighborhood and help get an ordinance passed which called for a bit more green space in the vast concrete parking lots. That's about all that I can think of that I accomplished after years of activism. I tried to get an ordinance passed that would mandate sidewalks in all new development, but the developers had their way. The older part of our small town is pedestrian friendly, but the newer developments and the areas with the big box stores are nightmarish for pedestrians.
I see you live in Cornwall. My friend and I will be in Cornwall for a week in October. Cathy tells me it's beautiful country.
Sadly and too often this is very true, and for those who have tried to change things and get burnt out it may be the way they end up !
ReplyDeleteI love the link you gave to the site too . Thanks and Blessings
