Comment Moderation Is Turned On

I'm sorry to do this, but I'm getting bombed with anonymous trolls and Jenny. For now, until the pests go away, I have turned on comment moderation. I'm sorry to use controls, since I like to keep access to the blog as free as possible, but until the annoying commenters go away, I'm afraid this is how it will be.

  1. Congratulations, grandmere. Believe me when I say that I understand how troublesome that is, and also when I say that it means you are doing really good work here,

  2. Please don't feel bad about moderating comments. I am sure that most of us readers appreciate not having to read so much hate from the right wing pseudo-Christians.

As a side note, I truly enjoy reading your blog! Please keep up the great work, and God bless you.

  3. It is sad that their are so many cowards on the internet who are apparently ashamed of their convictions.

  4. Thanks all. The hate is so depressing.

David G., Jenny is one of those sending ugly comments.

  5. Please do not apologize about having to use controls on the comments. One of the reasons I like coming to your blog is that discussions are so civilized. Do feel free to purge away.
I am sorry that you have to be exposed to such vitriol at such a joyous time.

  6. Grandmere --I think what Scott says is true. You must be doing something really well.

God bless you, and thank you for posting all the info on the festivities. Can you believe, I had parishioners skip church and go to DC today!!! (lucky bums!)

  7. I'm not having that kind of garbage here. I believe that things will go back to normal soon.

    Thanks for the kind words.

  8. As of this time, I've had 1,446 visits today. Those are far higher than my usual numbers. It's no wonder that a few trolls slipped in.

  9. You do what you must do, Grandmere. I am just thankful that you posted +Gene's prayer because it was driving me crazy that I couldn't find it on the CNN site, YouTube or NPR. And I'm sorry your good work means a barrage of hate mail from very bored, boarish, people.
    Peace!
Oh, and I'll consider you an "Honorable Lesbian"...a status I confer on those who aren't gay, but can understand what we face in this mixed-up and mean world.

  10. I'm just so sorry you have to experience this, Mimi. (Not to harp on your age, but to think people are dumping their sh*te on a 74 year-old grandmother: how do they live w/ themselves? :-/)

  11. I don't expect others to cut me slack because of my age. I make the choice to put myself "out there". This too shall pass.

  12. Grandmère, I'm sorry if my post roused any of the trolls. I hope you don't have to keep moderation on for long, that is such a burden for you. And yeah, for sure you are doing something right, the trolls don't go mess with everyone, ya know.

  13. TheJanet, it's not what you said. It's what trolls do. That's how they spend their time. Moderating is not a great burden. Open comments is my preference, but I can do moderating quite easily. Don't worry about rousing the trolls. They're always ready and waiting for their chance to pounce.
