Alert PETA ... kitty abuse in progress ... the Donald? really? condemned to a life of self-inflicted ridiculousness? And then the pumpkin house ... what doooo you people have against the kitties? (what's the emoticon for goofy grin? - insert here)
Marthe, I have nothing against kitties. We had cats all though our married life until Diana came to live with us. She hates cats, as we learned with the one cat we had at the time. Diana made Boy's life miserable until he died of kidney failure. We'd have to keep Diana and a cat separate, and that would be far too difficult. I want a cat badly, badly.
I have two kitties--Katrina rescue kitties. Wolfie and Stanzie. Collectively known as The Mewzarts--laugh track here. (Don't blame me, blame my daughter.)
The friend who went on this rescue mission had the most winning personality and when she asked us if we would adopt an animal, I couldn't say "no" and said "yes" to taking two kitties forgetting that cats have STAFF. I wouldn't think of giving them up but they can keep you very busy.
The cat in your post looks like a Norwegian Forest cat that belonged to my son. The cat is now in that great Norwegian Forest cat heaven in the sky.
Oh Bonnie, you're my BFF for adopting Katrina kitties. I love their names - all of them. Yes, cats are demanding and don't take no for an answer, but in some ways they are easier pets than dogs.
I remember our long-haired tabby who had her special chair. My mother was visiting us and she liked cats well enough, but not ON her. She was in Mimine's chair, and the old girl leaped in the air to get on the chair with my mother. My mother screamed, and Mimine stopped in mid-air and appeared to hang there a few seconds before she changed direction and was back on the floor. Mimine was the same color as the cat in the picture.
My church's rescue efforts for Katrina were incredible. We collected enormous amounts of stuff and money for people and animals in addition to a volunteer crew to help with some of the rebuilding. The volunteer building crew went down for the first three years. Really proud to be a member of TEC. If we could isolate the compassion gene, I'm sure we would find the abundance of it in our members.
Alison, friend to four and two-legged critters, died two years ago. During her heroic battle with brain cancer she started a much needed weekly respite care day.
The response of the Episcopal Church to Katrina was amazing. Bishop Jenkins was in the group of bishops who were unhappy with the direction of the church, but when he experienced the outpouring of love and compassion after the storm and flood, he came to see that we really are a family.
Thank you so much for the laugh this afternoon!! I so needed it Mimi!
