ABOUT THANKSGIVING

Alas...

  1. That's funny. I can relate to that. We do get a little noisy at the parents' house when the big family all gets together at Thanksgiving. Good times.

  2. And the dysfunctions in Michael's family are already at full throttle, and the holiday hasn't even started. I'll deal with mine by phone tomorrow. I hope mine have healed a little since the election. I know that they were really unhappy about it.

  3. Sort of apropos here: years ago I was chatting with a good friend who was a social worker and veterans' counselor about our "dysfunctional" families. Then we tried to think of a family we knew, anybody's family anywhere, that was not dysfunctional. We couldn't.

  4. I've been sick with the stomach flu since early this morning. Only now am I beginning to feel marginally better. I will not be joining the gang for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, nor will they be eating my oyster dressing. Oh well...maybe next year.

My solution to the dysfunctional Family Holiday: spending it w/ my best friend! (Now, my best friend's family is only MARGINALLY more functional... ;-/)
